Your average evening at the House of Bad

Bedtime. We've brushed her teeth, put on her jammies, made sure all her Barbies are dressed and warm for the night, read 3 stories, and finally, turned out the light.

Princess: Mommy?

Me: Yes?

Princess: Do we have to wear socks even in summer?

Me: No. Go to sleep.

Princess: Mommy?

Me: What?

Princess: I'm going to dream about the beach. What are you going to dream about?

Me: Breakfast.

Princess: Mommy! You can't dream about breakfast! Pick a gooder dream!

Me: Fine. I'll dream about unicorns dancing on rainbows.

Princess: Good. That's a much gooder dream Mommy.

Me: Good night Princess.

Princess: Mommy?

Me: What?!

Princess: Do turtles have teeth?

Me: I have no idea. Stop talking.

Princess: Mommy?

Me: (through gritted teeth) Yes?

Princess: When I'm a grown-up I'm still going to live here with you.

Me: Fine. Will you please stop talking and go to sleep?

Princess: Mommy?

Me: What?!!

Princess: I love you.

Me: I love you too. Now stop talking to me and go to sleep already!

She did.

"much gooder dream" - too cute!! And, I *think* that turtles do have teeth, but I'm too lazy to Google it right now.

:-)

My daughter's dreams are about puppy and kitty picnics with cupcakes and dinosaurs.

Dreaming about breakfast, you're killing me!!! And yea, the question of the day, do turtles have teeth?

Bed time is the longest couple of hours in our day too ;)

My boy had a PA day today- but he went to daycare (I'm at work, though they've sent us an email we can go home). He also plans to live at home until he's 40. Nice that we don't have to worry about enmpty nest for a while. I suspect this may change when they are teenagers...

Okay - I admit it. I had to look it up. Turtles do NOT have teeth. I'm much relieved and am sure I'll sleep better tonight with this question answered.

we have these conversations every night too and they make me batty. The worst is "mommy? I want to give you one more big hug" how do you say no to that?

I think you need to research the whole turtles having teeth thing.

Enquiring minds want to know...NEED to know.

So cute.
My son's thing is that he will say "Mommy ... I have something to say ..." but will have to think of something.
Anything to put off sleep.

I love how children will stall and stall at bedtime, just to delay the inevitable.

Nope, turtles don't have teeth. They have a bony 'gum' that they use to crush food to bits.

And the drinks of water just after they've been asked if they wanted one three times. Bedtimes make me crazy.
