A Birthday Fete

My dad has his 69th birthday this week, and in honour of that momentous occasion all of his 5 children descended with spouses and offspring to disrupt the peace and quiet at my parent's idyllic country abode.

We invented a new Olympic sport - Canadian Rules Badminton, anyone?

Hmm....why do our gatherings always degenerate into zerbert-fests and bum biting?

It was wonderful to have everyone together, which doesn't happen nearly enough. My favourite part was watching my children play with their cousins. There are 15 years between the oldest and youngest, but they're all amazing and I love them.

The 6 best kids ever. I am not biased.

Happy Birthday Dad! (and I hope you're enjoying the peace again, now we've all gone home!)

Resentment

I love my kids. But sometimes.... Like this morning. They were playing quietly, and I decided to run upstairs and make the beds. That decision cost me 20 minutes of scrubbing crayon off the walls in the hallway. Which made me look closely at how dirty and scuffed those walls really are. ANd how dirty the floor is, even though I just mopped it yesterday afternoon. Sigh. Get your shoes on kids - we're going to the mall. Retail therapy - plus someone else is paid to clean there.

We are Siamese....

I know, I haven't posted in FOREVER. But if anyone is still out there I thought you'd like this photo. The arts camp I teach at was this week, and this year's theme was China. The princess was very taken with the play the kids put on, and all of the art projects we did. She's already talking about next year when she will be old enough to attend. But in the meantime, she has been insisting on wearing her hair up with chopsticks. And whatever his sister has, Bad has to have too....

OMG! I haven't posted in FOREVER!!!

I'm sorry for being such a bad blogger. I haven't posted, and I haven't visited any of my friends either. I've been busy, and lazy, and on holiday.

This is the view from the balcony of our condo. Much nicer than the rain we came home to.

We swam multiple times everyday (in the pool - the Princess has become quite the little fish, but she doesn't want any in her swimming water) and built castles and collected buckets of shells on the beach. This is my favourite picture of my monsters together.

I haven't given you a 'Fatness Jones' update in ages either, but if any of you still care, I am posting a photo of myself in a swimsuit. On the internet. 'nuff said.

(I do have to lose the 3 lbs of ice-cream I gained last week, but considering how much I ate while away I'm really not that upset. I've still got a month or two until it's bathing suit weather at home!)

Supermom?

Or crazy? The Princess has been wanting to have a 'tea-party', so today we invited her two best girl-friends over for a Princess Playdate. They played dress-up, made crowns, and decorated Polly-Pocket Princess cupcakes. I'm exhausted.

You think one princess is trouble? Try three!

Lost in concentration....

Ta da!

It's a good thing I have no shame....

For the first time ever, after almost 3 years (total) of nursing, I have a clogged milk duct. It is painful, and I am trying to prevent it becoming full-blown mastitis. So that's why, when the courier came to the door just now, he was able to peer through the window and watch me standing at the counter, shirt up, hand-expressing breast milk into the kitchen sink.
