Is it me?
I just got off the phone with Hubs and he's feeling all pissy because I mentioned that Bad went to the Princess's school wearing her tights under his shorts. I thought it was funny, Hubs patently did not. He intimated that I let the boy get away with murder, and when I didn't respond he came out with the "maybe it's my fault for not being involved enough". Whatever. Bad's 2. He wanted to wear shorts. I wanted him to be warm. I said he could wear tights under his shorts, and although I was joking he thought it was a great idea and put some on. I didn't care - and I needed the laugh. So....am I an overly permissive parent? Scarring the boy's psyche for life? Or, heaven forbid, could I possibly be in the right?

I see no problem with the shorts and tights combo. Unless there's a blizzard blowing outside or severely low temps, he'll be fine.
Were they pink tights? Did they have flowers on them? Butterflies? Men seem to have issues with boys in pink tights.
I think you're right.
Um. There is no problem with that as far as I can see. Is it that it's a fashion faux pas or that your hubs perceives it to be inappropriate based on Bad's gender? My four-year-old has his toenails painted - regularly. He can wear a tutu to the shops if he pleases. Kids aren't born with all the gender "rules" built in as they are purely a societal convention and actually, allowing them to feel relaxed about traditional gender roles is likely to have a positive impact on their psyche not a negative one.
Seriously, the other day my 5 year old son tried on my daughter's Tinkerbelle costume. And I took a picture. My husband wasn't too happy.
That was extreme (and funny).
Tights under shorts is just fine :)
fortunately my husband doesn't mind that stuff because I'd certainly let my son wear the tights if he wanted. You'd be amazed how many boys really want to wear dresses and tights all the time (how can you blame them? They're fun and fancy). We don't really care about drawing gender lines in our house so maybe I'm biased but I don't think the tights are an issue at all. I'd like my son to feel like he can do what makes him happy when it comes to clothes.
Cute! My son grew up wearing those cute little two piece pajamas that had pajama pants that were like leggings...he didn't like the shirts though so he would wear the pants with a big baggy t-shirt. It was adorable. It wasn't very masculine, but comfort is important!!

I love this... I'm with you. It worked and made you smile... what's NOT to like?!? :-)
