That's what Hubs said to me this morning as he opened my car door for me, after he'd helped strap in our screaming, squirming offspring. They didn't want to go to swimming lessons. To be honest, I didn't particularly want to take them, but I figured it was safer for all of us to get out of the house. I know that I'm lucky to be able to stay home with my children, but some days....on some days, full time employment looks pretty good. At least Hubs knows how good he's got it, and never complains about the state of the house or noodles for dinner again.
Tricks or tips anyone? How do you fill your days at home with little children? What do you do to pull yourselves out of a funk?

What about building a fort under your kitchen table? Just toss a blanket over it and let them play under there.
Or, do you have a big box they could cover in stickers and play with?
Or, how about a "reading nest"? Make a pile of blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals and add a stack of books.
I work full time, so I don't have any tips, but I know that being a stay at home mom is way harder work (and you don't get paid - monetarily at least!) than going to 'real' work :)
Just getting out of the house can just be such a huge ordeal, an overwhelming task.
But for me, it is key in staying sane and out of dumps. And seeing other women. I started going to playgroup for just that reason. I barely have anything in common with most of the women, but it gets me out.
Wish you lived close by, we could help each other stay sane.
Hmmm, how do I fill in the day? Well we live rural, so we don't go out anywhere.
There is probably too much TV being watched because there is only so many things I can do with a toddler 'helping' and laundry, vacuuming and dishes aren't any of them.
I let her help me prep dinner. We snack alot. And we play outside ALOT.
Or actually, Amy plays otuside, while I sit and either a)read or b)watch her through the windows while I do dishes, laundry and vacuuming. Sigh.
I forgot to mention, the playing outside only works on nice days and seeing as how we are heading into Summer where it gets *too* hot to be outside, I think we might be stuffed.
PRESCHOOL!!!!!! :)
I also joined a very active MOPS group. It gave us a meeting to go to on the first and third Tuesday of the month and an activity, fieldtrip or playdate to go to on the second and third Tuesday of each month.
I have made a lot of good friends through this group and it always gave me something to look forward to.
And, when all else fails, TARGET!
I spent a lot of time wandering through the aisles of Target when my kids were younger. I would get them a pretzel and a drink to share and that would give me about 20 minutes of peaceful browsing. (No shopping because that could get expensive!) And I recommed that pretzel combo over the popcorn combo because you do not want to leave a trail through the store!
We also went to music classes. They were sponsored by the county that we lived in so they were very affordable. They also sponsored a very affordable art program as well.
I also recommend finding one friend that YOU like that also has kids and get together for playdates. I was lucky enough to find a great friend when we moved here and now we spend every afternoon together after the kids get home from school and get their homework done.
I hope you find something to keep you from going crazy. Those early years are so hard. But take heart because this too shall pass.
