Livid

We don't have a lot of expensive furniture, but we do have a beautiful sofa. We ordered it custom, and the company had never made it as a sectional before, but they did, and it turned out so well that they added it to their regular collection. And they feature it on their website, and in the fabric I chose, no less! This is what my sofa looked like this morning.

And this is what my sofa looked like this afternoon, thanks to Bad and the ballpoint pen he stole off of Hub's desk.

I scrubbed out the pen, but my sofa is now covered in blotchy spots and I'm hoping that a steam cleaning will fix it, but I don't know if it will ever be right again.

I'm way more upset than I probably should be; all my children are healthy, afterall. (Something of a miracle in itself, don't you think?) Please, if anyone knows anything about upholstery cleaning, let me know. I'm going to try to arrange something tomorrow or Monday.

Oh my holy hell. Do I even want to know what you did to the boy after you found the mess?

I honestly don't know how to clean this, but I'm guessing you can find the answer online.

Oh. My. God.

Speechless.

Is bad still alive???

I had a friends' daughter draw on my BRAND NEW carpet with a dark oily lipstick once. It never completely came out and I came to think of it as part of the history of the house (until I sold the house, when I had to find a rug to put over the stain).

You POOR thing.

I've got no useful solutions, just tonnes of sympathy.

Thanks all - I got all the pen out right away, with an upholstery spot cleaner, the problem now is that the spots I scrubbed were so large, and there were so many of them, that now the sofa looks like it belongs to someone incredibly incontinent. I think (hope!) that cleaning the whole thing will even the fabric out again. I hope so, or else I'm going to have to crochet an awful lot of afghans to hang all over it....and to make that look work I'm going to have to get a couple of cats. And I'm really not a cat person...and I don't know how to crochet....

OMG. Would flip. Speaking of flipping, I don't suppose there is anyway to flip the cushions?

Oh crap. I have no tips. I just hope it turns out okay once you've steam cleaned it. Oh dear. I would have had SUCH a meltdown.

What a beautiful sofa ... and boy, did Bad ever do a number on it!!!
Is it that sueded fabric? Our boy did the same thing (except on a much more minor level, when he was about 2) and ours luckily came out with just water and a lot of gentle scrubbing.

I suspect if the major spots came out and you clean the whole thing it will at least look more consistent.

I would be livid too. My youngest writes on everything: crayon on the carpet, marker on the sofa and on the wall. I could just cry over the damage the little darling has caused.
